The Theory and Practice of Culturally Responsive Teaching In-Person

In this session, you will learn about the theoretical underpinning of culturally responsive teaching. Topics such as bias, privilege, cultural destruction, cultural competence, and cultural proficiency will be covered.

Presenter:  Dr. Rolanda Ward, Faculty Director of the Rose Bente Lee Ostapenko Center for Race, Equality and Mission.

The Theory and Practice of Culturally Responsive Teaching is part of the Culturally Responsive Workshop Series.  Others in the series include:

Teaching Race: Pedagogy and Practice (to be held in November with a registration form to be released later)

In this session, you will engage in conversations about race/racism, explore methods to engage students through dialogue and deliberation techniques, and learn ways to promote racial equity through course materials and teaching practices.

Reflecting on your Practice (Spring 2020)

The final session is discussion based. We welcome you to come and share your classroom experiences or just ask questions of the facilitators and your colleagues.
