You're Invited to attend the workshop Using Art to Explore Values and Perceptions on Friday, September 15, 2023, 1:30-3:00 at the Castellani Art Museum.  

This is the first of a series of workshops on incorporating diversity into the classroom, and is designed for a broad academic audience and anyone considering various methods of teaching diversity. In addition, the workshops are resources for faculty who are interested in having their course(s) included in a new interdisciplinary minor being developed that focuses on diversity, equity, and inclusion. There is funding available to faculty to develop related materials. Also, this minor is proposed to be the first of others that may be completed through the general education curriculum. Details on these opportunities will be provided at the workshop and refreshments will be served. This workshop is supported by a Humanities Connection Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Join Castellani Art Museum staff on a guided exploration of three very different museum galleries: Through Artists’ Eyes, The Highwaymen: Black Artists of the Florida Coast, and Of Their Time: Pop to Post Modern. Participate in discussion- and viewing-based activities that examine personal perspectives, empathy, values, ethics, and power dynamics. Consider how you may use or modify these activities for students and take home a few related readings, videos, and worksheets to further grapple with these important questions in your classroom.
